The Urban Farmer by Curtis Stone

My husband and I will be attempting to do this on a lower scale level, basically just at our house. Why buy your own produce when you can grow it! Onward to a great summer and an even better lifestyle change!

W/E#5-Communication

I think communication is important in very single task that we do, at work AND at home. Having good communication skills are very important. It helps you get your point across to others and it helps eliminate over paying employees if everyone communicates. You need to be able to talk to others easily and you also need to be able to listen back when someone tries to communicate with you. Communication is key!

Social Media Lawsuit

A Facebook Post and The Workplace

The article I read this week is about two women who were expressing their feelings about the company they work for on a Facebook post. The post was made when both of the women were off and already at home but when they came back to work the next morning, they got in trouble. They each got a verbal warning about the incident and were told that if similar posts were made in the future, they would be fired. Should businesses be allowed to reprimand their employees of posts they make off the clock? That’s what started this whole lawsuit. Can a company actually get away with taking your right of “free speech” away? The case is still pending; however, it is going to be interesting to see how it plays out. I think the women shouldn’t get into any type of trouble for what they express on their social media site, every American has the right to free speech and that includes these two women.

WE#4-Teamwork

I feel as though teamwork helps make any job, easier. If you have a good group of coworkers,  the work load shouldn't be nearly as tough as it normally would be. Working together cuts time, energy, and even payroll. Teamwork is very critical in any business. A business that has all employees working together shows customers that the business cares, and customers want to see that for themselves. Teamwork makes businesses better, easier, and closer.

WE #3 -Respect

Respect goes a long way in life and in any type of work environment. The old saying goes "to gain respect, one must give respect" and its so true! If you want your boss to respect you, you have to show them that you are worth respecting. Show up on time, be polite, give feedback, and always treat others the way you want to be treated. I try to show respect every where I go, but sometimes, on bad days its a little hard, but as long as one tries, its shown. Showing respect makes others feel good, and it actually makes you feel like a decent human being.

How can I search for a file?

If you have a windows operating system on your computer, searching for a file is simple. All you have to do is click on the "start button" which is located in the bottom left corner of the computer screen. As soon as you click the "start button" a search bar will appear at the bottom of the menu. From there you type in a key word associated with the file you are searching for and press enter. Once you have done that, your file should pop up on the menu screen.

WE #2 Attendance

Attendance is one of the most important work ethic traits to have. When you have good attendance, you are showing your employer that you are loyal and are dependable. In a world where everyone is trying to get a job or to keep a job, its so important to be there every day. Some places will fire you if you are have poor attendance! Sometimes, I run late to work, rarely, but it happens, so I can help myself improve in this area by setting my alarm clock twenty minutes earlier than normal.
Another way that helps me try to maintain good attendance is remembering this quote that my high school band director would always tell us this, "If you're early, you're one time. If you're on time, you're late."

WE #1-Character

If you ask me, character is extremely important while in the business world. If you don't have a strong and motivated character then the business world, or any type of "world" will be very tough on you. I think that if a person has a decent character, sometimes, that speaks more than a person who has all the knowledge in the world. People of good character make awesome employees. They wouldn't steal or try to ride the clock and have the companies best interest in mind. Sometimes though everyone falls short, but people who have a good character know that they can get right back up and start again. That's what happens with me, I get so stressed out at work sometimes but I always try to get back up and try again. Normally, that's when I'm able to fix mistakes or think more clear. Character goes a long way!

Hello!

My name is Ashlea Courtney. Its actually Ashlea Jordan (i got married recently) but Mrs. Parker recognizes me as Ashlea Courtney. :)

I am 23 years old. I love spending time with my husband and creating our new life together.
We have 4 chickens, 3 Silver Fox Rabbits, 2 cats and one sweet sweet dog. I want to have more farm like animals though. I've always had a soft spot for animals and the simple farm life. All throughout my earlier years (like I'm not still in them haha!) I showed hogs, went to what seemed like thousands of goat sales, raised chickens, had peacocks, turkeys, guineas, and even donkeys. And one day, when we purchase our very own land, i plan on having just as many animals.
